We have opportunities in life to take our usual route or to follow God’s prompting to take a divine detour. But this detour will not be easy. It will require us to disadvantage ourselves so that we can advantage someone else. By exploring the parable of the Good Samaritan we see that he decided to take a divine detour on his highway of life. It was a detour that took risk, personal involvement, time and money— all things we often use as excuses not to act.
